The gathering was attended by prominent scholars, intellectuals and experts on Imam Khomeini from across Iran and around various countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the ate founder of the Islamic Republic said that such prize represents a dynamic school of thought and ideals.
He pointed out that the values of a personality or a figure could be measured by influence left on history. He said that Imam Khomeini had left a very deep impact on our contemporary history and current era.
Seyyed Abbas Salehi, the cultural minister said that Imam was distinguished in the history of seminary. He went onto say that Imam believed in the people in building a political system.
The minister further said Imam's system of people's beliefs was both broad in terms of variables and deep in terms of belief system.
Imam had such a great faith in people in the traditional environment of the Imam's seminary arises from a system of knowledge that is beyond discussion.
The minister said Imam used to advise the authorities as following”
"If the people support a government, it will never fall. Don't make people afraid of you, make people talk to you."
Addressing the ceremony, President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Imam Khomeini had a strong trust and faith in people and further said that “if the people turn their backs on us, nothing will remain of the revolution and religion.”
He advised all relevant authorities to serve people while following Imam's path.
Imam Khomeini World Prize Award was first approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in 2013 but was finally given a go-ahead in 2023, with amendments to its statute, level, and structure that is based on 10 thematic axes, including recognizing and introducing outstanding scientific, intellectual, and social works related to the thoughts and character of Imam Khomeini.
Iran's president and several ministers are in the award's policy-making council, along with personalities associated with national and internation scientific and academic centers. 10 judging committees work under the policy-making council, on different themes of the award.
